FR970 heart-rate monitor dropping during hiking activity

I've used the FR970 on 3 hikes and on all of them I'm experiencing constant drops of the heart-rate monitor. It seems to just shut itself of randomly, when I take it off my the green light just stay off. After saving the activity, the heart-rate monitor starts working again, so I assume this is software-related.

Any ideas?

My issues are being investigated by support..

No, I don't have anything paired with the watch at the moment except for my phone.

I had to reboot the watch to get the wrist heart rate reading again.

It happened to me more then once during a run, from around 150 bpm to 0 bpm (I taught I died)

I had a similar experience with my run today. 15 min dropout during the first half of my run. I have paired, and sometimes use a hr-monitor, but did not use it today.

Nope they are still investigating. I returned the watch yesterday though. I'm not going to wait any longer for these issues to be fixed.

I had the same issue while doing running activities, and I think I found the issue: the default selected power settings may be adjusted to a setting that doesn't track the heart rate. You can check this by selecting the desired activity, and then select "hike settings". From there, select "Power Mode", and then "Default mode". On this screen, you'll see several selections with icons. In my error, my default was selected to "Max Battery" which turns off the heart rate, phone, and music functions. Selecting "Normal" or "Extended" will turn the heart rate monitoring feature back on. Hope this helps you like it did me!

Greetings! I had the same issue for about a month now while doing running activities. I may have stumbled upon the answer today - check the power settings: (1) Select an activity/exercise. (2) Scroll down and select "settings - configure your activity". (3) Select "Power Mode", and then "Default Mode". On this screen there are several options with icons listed beside them. In my example, my default was selected on "Max Battery", which disables the call, heart rate, and music functions. By selecting the "Normal" power mode and then backing out to start the exercise, the heart rate feature was restored. The default selection may have been adjusted during an update, or the setting for something else may have been populated across other features. Hope this helps you like it did me!
