Walk Indoor activity not recording pace or distance

I have a standing desk and walking pad that I regularly use during my workday. I've only had the Forerunner 970 a short time, so just now used the Walk Indoor activity. While it records the time that the activity is running, it does not record pace, nor distance, nor does it assign the steps that have been recorded with the actual activity.

Is this expected?

It needs your arm movement to pick up movements.

Some people use another device (like a pod etc) on their ankles/ shoes and an option. Do some google searches and you'll find many comments on this.

Thanks! I appreciate that, but it's not quite applicable (though it seems it might be).

I make sure to hang my wrist at my side to capture the steps - and it's definitely picking up the steps, just not applying it to the active activity. To me, it's no different than a treadmill run activity. But what do I know. lol

I guess I'll just have to whip out my pod. Just seems like it should pick up and apply the steps better. It's not like a standing desk and walking pad are rare these days.
