Shared use with Apple Watch

Hello,

I use the Apple Watch Ultra and would now like to use the Garmin watch for running, as the watch has greater strengths here. I was thinking about using both watches together, but not at the same time. I.e. the Garmin when running and the Apple Watch otherwise.

Is it possible to use them together without any problems?
Are there any points where you have to sacrifice features if you use them together?
Do features such as the training rings remain with Apple, etc.?

Thank you for your help and best regards.

  • If you don't wear your Garmin all day many of the metrics won't be much use as they rely on collecting data during the day / night. This will impact daily workout suggestions etc, so it depends on what you want from the Garmin. You may be able to sidestep that by using the recently released Garmin Sleep Band during the balance of the day. (Look at DC Rainmaker YT reviews on that).

I know you can sync your Garmin with Apple Health but its a long time since I used an AW with a Garmin (probably 5 years ago as since the I've used only the Garmin) so I cant recall if all the rings work 100%.

Hopefully someone who uses both currently will be able to give a better take on it.

  • Hello,

We have a lot information on how it works in our article here: Sharing Your Garmin Connect Data With Apple Health

Rings will not progress with our watches data that does transfer to Apple Health. The only benefit customers see is really just the syncing aspect of sharing data across third party apps. I do agree with you on what one wants from using both. Garmin devices are supposed to be used for all day wear and activities to get the best metrics. Wearing two watches can be cool but not always what works. Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help!
