Turn by turn notifications

I am just back from a run in a foreign city. First time using 970 as a navigational aid.

Turn notifications did not work for me. Do they work for anyone? Did you have to do anything special to get them to work?

It‘s hit and miss for me. Sometimes I get turn by turn with voice prompts, sometimes just with the beeping sound, and on the last two activities it just showed the distance to finish (without any prompts…

You need to tell us how you routed?

Did you create a course? Torn by turn notifications only work for pre loaded courses.

Route created in garmin connect on iOS and loaded onto 970. No notifications of upcoming turns

It‘s hit and miss for me. Sometimes I get turn by turn with voice prompts, sometimes just with the beeping sound, and on the last two activities it just showed the distance to finish (without any prompts before that). I didn’t change anything that I‘m aware of. All on firmware version 6.17.

I added an explicit map screen and I got the visual and audible prompts yesterday. Will try again without the explicit map screen and just the one that shows up without a map screen added.

I did a run with round trip routing yesterday. I got turn notifications for the first 3km and then missed a turn by ca. 100 meters. I stopped, turned around, the watch started to recalculate the route and just ended the navigation completely. No permanent map data field in my running profile.

I get that all the time, it just goes "nope no rerouting!" Is slightly annoying!

Been working just fine for me - got the Topoactive maps for the region, got a plotted (saved) route sent to device (created in Strava, auto-sync to GarminConnect, send to watch via GC). I get a consistent vibration alert ahead of every turn. And it's a lot more noticeable than the alert on my older FR955. Details on the maps super clear too (probably mostly the screen - higher res, amoled)
