Display issues on 970

Hello,

There is an issue with the display of the 970. At times the image gets distorted for about 30 seconds.

I have the forerunner for close to one week and have experiences this issues 3 times today. On top of that I thinl this issue occured around 7 times during this time.

  • I have this same.

Write or call Garmin support, they will exchange it for a new one. There's nothing you can do about it. Formatting, resetting, reinstalling the software, etc. All for nothing.

  • Thank you, if this continues I will return the device.

  • unfortunately it will keep popping up. Did you restore the settings from the previous watch to the 970? I wonder if we have something in common with this failure

  • No. This is my first Garmin watch. Previously I had a Polar watch.

So far I have mixed feelings about the Garmin. I have another issue with the watch rebooting a few times a day, randomly.

    My frustration, keeps on growing.

I understand that it's a new device and might have software issues...but for it's price tag...it seems Garmin has shipped an unfinished product.

  • At Garmin, unfortunately, this is standard with new equipment. Luckily, they have excellent service. In case of such operational errors, you can also return the equipment at the place of purchase. Don't strain yourself, just write to support.

  • I have the exact same issue.

Did Garmin support mention whether this is a software issue that will be fixed at some time? On top of this my screen also randomly turns off completely until I force restart the watch.

This is my first Garmin product and whilst I like the extensive activity features, spending £629 on a product that appears to have faulty software installed is frustrating to say the least.

  • this is not software it is hardware, it turns out that some faulty batch came out - write to the service - they will exchange it for a new one within a week.

  • I understand your frustration...I went through it myself as I was waiting for the watch to be released for close to 8 months and when I got my hands on the watch it had this issue.

I went back to the store where I purchased the watch this Friday, as I did not purchased it directly from Garmin . The representative from the store had turned a little pale when I showed him the photos of my glitchy display and said they will sent it to a repair center in order to confirm the watch is defective and afterwards they can give me my money back or replace it with another watch.

I've talked with other running buddies as some got the watch as well and nobody had this issue. Everyone told me in real life to return the watch. Do the same and ask for a replacement or maybe wait for a couple of months and purchase it then.
