Display in full sunlight and in darkness

Question to the lucky new owners; How well can you read/use the map display in full sunlight? I have seen only one picture online of a 970 in full sunlight and that showed only the watchface.

And for the older crowd ;-) do you need to use the wrist gesture to see the time or is AOD bright enough?

Full sunlight is harder to read. Not sure if it is the OMLED display or the reflections from the sapphire glass.

Coming from a 955 solar.

When using maps the display is very bright and easily readable when the screen is lit up.

Indoors you can read it without the wrist gesture. Although to be honest I'm not using the AOD now to save battery and am just using the wrist gesture.

Thank you for your responses. I had not realized it has sapphire. I always struggle with glare and reflections with sapphire watches, esp. when the display background is black. Hoping (in vain) for a new Forerunner with MIP and white backgrounds.

The screen is so bright compared to my Epix that the sapphire really isn't an issue.
