"Popping" sound after system tones and notification sounds

After system tones and notification sounds play I keep hearing a "popping" sound from the watch speaker. I hear it regardless of the volume setting. It's sometimes faint and sometimes louder, or sometimes I don't hear it at all, especially like with repeated tones such as button presses, after which you hear the pop following the last tone. Is anyone else experiencing this and maybe it just needs a firmware fix, or is it a defect In the hardware?

  • I've heard it once only on my watch. I don't think I'd have noticed it but for reading this thread.

  • My 970 sounds like the speaker is distorting when playing tones during a run. Even when I’ve turned it down it seems to crackle.

  • For anyone waiting on a fix, I just wanted to quickly share the update I got today from support. Looks to likely be a firmware issue from the sounds of it.

We are investigating this and have a ticket open with engineering that we are looking at a software fix for. Thank you for your patience and taking the time to start this thread.

  • Fingers crossed that is ALL it is and software will save it.

  • This just started happening to me yesterday and today, but now it's back to normal. Very strange, hopefully it is a software issue that can be fixed by an update.

  • Hi all,

I‘m from Germany and have the same issue. It’s pretty annoying and appearing with every system sound. Is there already an explanation (hardware? software?) and, even more important, a solution?

I‘m now on firmware 6.18. I took it out of the box (on 18th of July) and it had this issue from the very beginning. It never had contact with water etc.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Best regards

    Marc

  • Germany

    It‘s now on 6.18

    Yes

  • My firmware recently updated to the latest (6.18), and the problem still exists. To be fair, there was only one resolved problem by the firmware update. Only one... after a whole month. At this point, I'm wholly disappointed by this watch. This one single problem makes a very expensive watch seem extremely cheap. That doesn't even include all the other problems I and many others have experienced and aren't being fixed. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to wait, but will probably be asking for a refund if this isn't fixed soon. Even my wife is annoyed every time the watch on my wrist is popping with the various notifications and sounds... and she's not around me all the time. I'm extremely annoyed by it and frustrated.

  • Two months on any updates or should we return the watches?

  • Have you logged a support case?
