Stryd Workout App "not supported?" on the FR 970?

Today I received my Garmin FR 970. Wanted to go out for a run and test Grin

I use Stryd. Pod is recognized and seems to work fine. The Stryd Zones Datafield looks OK (but going for a test in a few minutes).

But I am not able to install the Stryd Workout App.

Used the latest update for the FR 970.

Who has a workaround or fix?

  • What do you need the Stryd Workout App for if you have Stryd Zones Datafield and that works?  Stryd had published quite awhile back that they were discontinuing work on the Workout App and solely focusing on the Zones Datafield.  The Zones Datafield is much better as well IMO.

  • I think it's mostly out of habit. But I like the interface of the native app better and there are just a few more options with screens 2 and 3. But maybe you're right and it's just getting used to it. I just don't know if the structured workouts are guided just as well. For example, how much time is left for a certain round? And signals when you run outside the zones? I think it's a matter of trying.
I just came from a test round and I have to say that the Stryd Zones data field looks pretty nice. But I think all the screens on the 970 are beautiful.
Since everything works, I think for Stryd developers it's a matter of adding the device, FR970, to the table of compatible devices to get it work. I think the 970 is not yet recognized by the Stryd workout App.

But thanks for the tip! I will give it a try!

  • yes, structured workouts are guided on the Stryd Zones Datafield just as they were on the Workout App.  There is also the option to have environmental adjusted power, which I'm not for certain was an option on the Workout App.  You get all the benefits plus are able to use music, maps, etc. during since this is just a datafield screen.

  • Sounds great! Thanks for the reply! I think I will like it because now áll other Garmin fields will be available! That is a big plus!

  • Workout app is not to be used in the futur...
