Any details on the Auto Lap by timing gates?
I cannot seem to find it in the manuals.

There is something about it in this article
Ahhhh that is great, there is a data field for races that let you do similar if you hit lap. Hope this is the same!
Thanks!
Like I said, it's extremely unintuitive. As soon as I saw how it worked, I predicted that not everyone would even be aware that it's possible.
tbh it's nothing new for Garmin. just look at how…
- Click on a different point in the course to move it.
oohh, it IS movable !!!!

tbh it's nothing new for Garmin. just look at how course map filtering works. You only see the courses which are currently visible on the map, which also applies to the list of your own courses.
So if you have courses spread out over a large area (e.g different cities / provinces / states / countries), there is no way for you to see all of them on the map unless you manually pan and zoom the map.
Furthermore, the message which tells you that courses are filtered out is buried at the bottom of the courses list (so if there's enough courses that the list scrolls, you won't see it.)
When you finally do scroll down and see the message, it tells you that some courses are not displayed, and that to see all of your courses, you should:
- reset the filters (at least they give you a link to do this)
*and*
- "reset the map view" (!)
This 2nd point is just terrible. First of all they give you no way of automatically doing this. You have to do it manually. Second of all, telling the user to "reset" the map view is plain misleading, as it implies that the map view must have *initially* included all the courses, which is not necessarily true.
Related to all of this is the "search by moving the map" checkbox (which is checked by default). If you uncheck that box, you might expect it to show all your courses, right? Nope, it just means that whatever courses were filtered in when you unchecked the box will stay that way. There's almost no point in unchecking that box as it doesn't reset the geographical filter, it only freezes it at the point when you unchecked the box.
I could also write a novel about how selecting gear in the Connect app sucks. You'd think that selecting a pair of shoes from a dropdown list would be the simplest thing in the world to implement, but Garmin managed to make it unnecessarily complex and frustrating.
I could also point out how Strava does all of this stuff better. For one thing, they have a separate page for showing all your courses which is completely divorced from the courses map, as it should be.
Imagine wanting to see all your courses in Connect, and Garmin says you have to do a bunch of manual work to accomplish that. All the user wants is a button that literally shows them all their courses, but it doesn't exist in Connect.
Btw I brought that up because there have been several threads in the Connect forum along the lines of "I can't see all my courses. Help!"
