27.09 - Bugs, bugs, bugs... Heart rate, calendar, strange alarms

Oh my, long time haven’t been here.

But everything comes to an end – so – different problems.

From the beginning - last year Garmin changed my unit to a refurbished one, because of battery problems with my original device.

In the beginning everything was working good, heart rate, GPS, etc. – I was happy but cautious.

But after updates problems occurred:

1) Heart rate again is unreliable – cadence locks all the time – currently cured with a HRM belt and source swithing is off – because even then it could mess hr reading but… come on…

2) Calendar is messed up again – selecting an event from watch and clicking “show more in app” can redirect to a different event in app, or after powering off and on the device forgets every event planned – even main event with Garmin Coach plan active – this is a mess.

3) NON GPS activities (Treadmill running and Indoor walking) often suffer from a strange alarm “Ended” popping out of top of the screen. The same alarm that You would see when a navigation is ended on watch. It doesn’t do anything – just pops out, shows “ended” and disappears. Few minutes and comes back – I don’t have any idea

Even now I’m struggling to sync my watch with phone, because calendar forgot my events, deleted my coach plan… God give me patience…

Any tips before I throw this overpriced piece of **** out of window?

Everything is done on stable software 27.09

  • I see 27.10 has been released for the 165 and seems to solve issues introduced in 27.09

Not sure if it's been released for the 965, they may be waiting to receive more feedback.

Since we both know that the problem is probably related to firmware version I think you could try to downgrade it. Try to search the internet for older firmware versions' image files. I never downgraded, but I think it should be possible. And you should immediately afterwards disable automatic software upgrade of course. And disable it again and again every time you connect the watch to Garmin Express (because sometimes it enables it without asking you)
