Is my barometer dead ? ( lots of fake floors )

Hi,

Since few months I would say ~24.xx update i've been experianceing lot of fake floors. My watch somehow count like 50-200 floors climbed per day while i just walk on flat surface and most of the day spend in front of my computer.... before i had normal values. Also i have more of fake storm alerts... so I'm wondering wether it's firmware update issue or is my watch barometer dead ?

Some of you guys are also experiencing this issue ?

( I bought the watch > 2 years ago so i guess contacting garmin support is useless now )

  • Try to contact Garmin via their service chat.

Chances are high that you will get a recertified device in exchange for your broken one.

  • Unfortunately the baro sensor is likely broken, but of you have not tried it already, soaking the watch in warm water to clean the sensor port is worth a try. As the watch will be out of warranty Garmin will probably charge for replacement but the expected lifetime of a smartwatch is 6 years (source: Consumentenbond) so you would reasonably have expected the use of a defect-free watch for far longer than 2 years.

  • thanks, yes i tried cleaning the baro sensor but it didn't helped. I'll try to contact garmin because if i'm alone having this issue indeed it's probably a hardware failure ;(
