I’ve been having a problem for almost 6 months now where the final Primary Benefit of a run doesn’t match what the DSW calls for.
Example:
1. DSW recommends “Base - 146 bpm - 30 min”
2. I complete the run with an average HR of 136 bpm (~85% Z1, 15% low Z2) with the Max HR having never even touched the recommended 146 bpm.
3. The Primary Benefit is labeled as “Tempo” instead of “Base” and my future suggested workouts are skewed towards recovery and the training load balance is extremely unbalanced.
This only happens when using a chest monitor and I get the same results with both a Polar H10 and a Garmin HRM Pro Plus. If I were to just use the wrist based HR on the watch, this run likely would have been labeled as “Recovery”. Similarly, I can run at a much faster pace that is fully in mid Z2 with an average HR closer to 150 bpm and still receive a “Base” benefit when using the built-in HR sensor.
Max HR (195 bpm) is accurate based on recent all out efforts and my zones are set automatically based on LTHR (176 bpm @ 6:25 min/mi) and also appear to be accurate based on a recent 10k trial.
I have tried factory resetting the watch and the issue still persists.
