Hey, i have for the first time used the multisport feature on my FR965. When our club is on the running track we always have a procedure we follow:
- 2km (5 laps) Warm-Up
- Running drills
- 3x100m acceleration runs into sprints
- Main workout (in this case 5x1000m + 400m recovery jog)
- 2km (5 laps) Cool-Down
I would usually just use the running track activity profile and just pause the watch during the drills but felt i could do better by manually switching activity types. So i ended up doing the following:
- Warm-up: Track Running
- Running Drills: Yoga
- Acceleration runs: Running with manual laps
- Main Workout. Track Running with manual laps
- Cool-Down: Track running
This seemed like it would make sense to me, as i would now be able to also properly track the drills and everything as one activity with "sub-activities". Unfortunately, it completely breaks apart when trying to sync this to Garmin Connect on my iPhone. I would receive the updates to my Training Effect stats, but nothing on my running distance stats. The activity itself does not sync and is not visible in Garmin Connect on the iPhone or on the Web-Frontend.
I can view the activity on my FR965 itself and everything there looks perfectly fine. I did pull the fit-File (and attached it 2025-08-13-18-02-51.fit for debugging), but the Garmin Connect Web-Frontend would not accept it, returning an unknown error.
Using fitfileviewer, i was able to determine the file contains a number of errors. A "repaired" version of the file was accepted into Garmin Connect but some the last two Track Running profiles are overlapping, where part of the cool-down is contained in the main workout session.
This whole experience is really unfortunate, and in the future i will continue to just use a single Track Running profile and just pause the watch in between parts of the session.
I can see why you could argue my approach may be unreasonable, but i wouldn't expect the FR965 to produce an invalid fit-file and the whole system to just fail me in this way.
