The stamina indicator decreases

Good day!

Recently (about 2 months) I have been mainly training in the pool or on a bike, but the endurance indicator either does not change after training or decreases.
Sleep, recovery and other indicators are at a good level. The battery is fully charged after a night.
The load during training, especially on a bike, is sufficient, including an anaerobic part.
Please help me understand this issue, why the anaerobic load decreases and how the data analysis algorithm works.

  • Are you talking about in workout Stamina graph (orange) or are you talking about Endurance Score ?

Endurance score seems mainly effected by high volume weeks and long activities, at least based on my graph and my past year or two training, often a bit lag in endurance score compared to training, but then I think incorrectly it also goes down quick... which shouldn't be the case if still training at a good level (just not super high volume for a few weeks).

Stamina is within a workout DC Rainmaker explains pretty well on the 965 review

Google AI also explains it decent.  Not sure I can improve on it to much, but here is some and a recent example.

But within a long hard workout if you are at a steady endurance zn2... it will just slowly decrease over the course of a 4-6hr ride.  If you push into zn3 or 4 it will drift down faster.  If you do intervals HARD it will drop fast... but then go back up during the easy recovery time.   Slowly stepping down over the course of the workout (similar to how your HR likely will slowly drift UP over the course, but drop in recovery interval).

A quick example of its use... I had a two day stage gravel race 63 miles and 70 mile with my bike packing gear.  1st day was just over 4hrs of light zone 2 effort with my friends (not in shape), my stamina by HR only (bad watch data sort of) went from a 100% (rested day before) slowly down to 53%, then I took off solo at threshold effort it quickly dropped to 2%(!) over the course of the 12min effort to the finish.  Where I made a final turn and down a STEEP hill (brakes on/resting) and my Stamina rose in the last minute or two to 27%.  After setting up camp, happy hour and dinner/drinks... I was solo and jogged back to camp to go faster to bonfire.  My Garmin said my starting Stamina was 47% only.  Seemed about fair, dropped to 46% over the 1km to camp.  lol

Day 2 started early, with a starting stamina of 76% ( I train a lot, in shape, 320w ftp, but that seemed high considering my training readiness score was 5 out of 100 or lower that morning).  Then it was just a steady long day in some storms at times... so it was a steady drop to 35% by the end, my feet were in pain so didn't do normal hard at the end.  Plus it was a good headwind, downhill... so I lead the pack of friends while they drafted gravel roads at finish.  Seemed about right at 35% cuz I could def have went on more...

HOWEVER... I have seen it pretty bad, where I did a PR in the Marathon, it went from 100->27%... was pretty much dead at the end... a <10% would have been appropriate! lol
