Auto Lap by Time

I wonder why it is not available the option to Auto Lap "by Time" in the walking activity...

  • I agree Marco we definitely need auto laps by time.  I have a FR 955 but this could be implemented for all Garmins.  I also have a Polar Pacer Pro which has automatic laps, which are separate from manual laps using the lap button, where I check my 5 minute average heart rate.  I find this much better for managing a constant effort and also time is 100% accurate vs. distance which can vary a lot, especially in poor signal areas.

    I can post this in the 955 section too.

  • You can wonder, but if you'd like to give it a slight chance to being implemented, then you should post it somewhere else, not in this user forum (though I think it's a good idea to start here, as then other users can show here if they are interested as well) The next step in case we're talking about a bug would be to contact Garmin customer support. I usually send them the forum link. In case of a feature idea, like this, the only thing customer support will tell you is to post it in the following link, so you can skip the customer support and go and send it here;

    Disclaimer: I don't know if anyone in Garmin reads those messages, I sometimes jokingly call it the /dev/null, but that's the official channel, so it's still our best chance. Especially that this idea seems to be very easy to implement.

  • Thanks for this flocsy, I already posted here too which hopefully might get seen:

    Will post to the one you mentioned too shortly!

  • This whole forum is user forum. Garmin employees only occasionally look at it, let alone respond. And there are forums where this never happens. In others, only for a short time after a new firmware version was released.

  • but if you'd like to give it a slight chance to being implemented, then you should post it somewhere else, not in this user forum (though I think it's a good idea to start here, as then other users can show here if they are interested as well)

    "Post somewhere else, not here. Also, it's a good idea to post here."

    Dizzy face

    This just proves my point that Garmin should have a public ideas forum just like Spotify and other companies. (Yes, I have already submitted this as an idea to the official ideas page.)

    I still think it's the height of irony that Garmin uses the "ideas" feature of this forum platform for bug reports, but we aren't supposed to post actual ideas anywhere in the forums.

    Like, literally the (terrible) forum platform that Garmin chose was designed with this use case in mind, but Garmin refuses to use the ideas feature for ideas.
