Can you change heart rate alert thresholds DURING an activity?

Dear all, as the title says...

Is it possible to change heart rate alert thresholds during an activity?

For example, on one day I want the watch to warn me if I leave zone 2 during an activity, i.e. running. On the next day I want to train in zone 3 during running but silly me keeps forgetting to change the zone for the alerts.

Do I have to stop the current activity, change the alert thresholds and start a new activity?

Thank you and BR, Georg

  • Hello,

You will have to change the alerts each run you do. So lets say you set up an alert for Zone 2, that is the only alert you can set, you can't set up two alerts for HR zones under the run settings through alerts. You can't schedule alerts so to speak under that feature through the run settings either.

For your last question, if you want to make an alert for zone 2 as an example and then 30 minutes into the run you want to make a zone 3 alert you can do that! You just have to stop running in order to change it, there is no fast way to do so.

However, you could create your own run workout through our app and custom make the run to follow inside this specific zone. Creating a Custom Workout in Garmin Connect - you would set an intensity target for HR zones for lets say 5 minutes (zone 2) and then your rest comes into play if you want one and then your next 5 minute run is zone 3. That could work for you this way!
