Forerunner 965 - Lactate threshold is way too high

Hi. Few days ago I started Garmin Coach adaptive plan for upcoming 10k, but the first prescribed threshold workout had taget pace and heart rate so high that there is no way I could handle it for required amount of time. My current LTHR by feel looks like 4:40/km and certainly no more than 175 bpm (it's year old lab result). I had those 175 bpm set manually in my FR965 but it looks like Garmin Coach just ignores it. Then I turned on LTHR autodetection which now (with HRM200) suggests that my LTHR looks like 4:05 and 180 bpm - it is clearly way too high than real LTHR and simply unbearable for 40+ minutes. My FR965 has software v23.20. Is it that overestimation bug or it's me doing something wrong?

  • We all seem to have the same problem

  • This thing (LT detection, etc.) has not worked correctly for almost a year now. I am sure Garmin people have heard/read all the complaints made about it. The fix is not here yet, so I presume they just decided to leave it as is for whatever reason. Obviously that makes a lot of functionality of the watch pretty much useless and by that its price seems ridiculous now. But who cares about people who already paid for it. At least Garmin executives can high five themselves for good quarterly finance reports and can sing up for nice bonuses.

  • Thanks for your replies and attention. I stopped Garmin Coach plan, set LTHR manually and added the event into calendar to tailor daily recommendations. For now those recommendations look fine, at least with HR as target type.
