Training Status

Anybody noticed a different behavior on the training status since sw 23.20 ? It’s been maintance since I installed it. Yesterday I did a cycling VO2max exercise, aerobic score 3.9, anaerob 2.7 , exercise load 241 . My load is balanced, still only maintaining. Before version 23.20 that would have been green status and productive.

  • My status has been either Maintaining or Strained since March 26th. Not sure whether that corresponds to a firmware update or not, but seems that my training is going nowhere even though I've been broadly following DSWs.

  • Posted on 955 page regarding my 955 series, I see the same issues post 23.20 patch Mid May.

Doubled intensity minutes this week, ran 5k this morning.  Unproductive.  Has never shown unproductive until this patch.

    Status degraded since May 13.

    Intensity Minutes doubled this week.

  • Do you have a balance of anaerobic, high-intensity aerobic and low-intensity aerobic training? That's the main factor that decides. Right behind that is Vo2max and its trend, which takes into account weight and body fat and fitness age.

  • Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.  You are correct, it is complaining about low-intensity aroebic work.  Issue is I run multiple days a week like many on this forum whereas I use to do more walking.  Seems the better shape you achieve, the HR stays lower for low intensity giving a lower exercise load score.  You reach a point where there is only so many workouts you can do in a week.  I could be wrong but that is what I see, improved fitness, exercise load scores become harder to maintain due to being HR based. A good system but not perfect.  I think I will just focus on feel, training load, resting HR, VO2 and HRV.  Use Training status as a tool that’s out there as a recommendation for being better rounded training.

  • "Unproductive" means your fitness seems to be decreasing despite training.

"Your fitness appears to be declining but not necessarily because of excessive training loads. If your load focus is optimally balanced, it may be time to evaluate other factors like nutrition, daily stress, and sleep quality."

  • Correct, that it is mainily based on vo2max results as far as I can tell.  vo2max score has a decimial place that isn't shown, can be viewed on 3rd party sites if you import workouts to Runalyze, shows that decimal.  If you have been going really flat vo2max it will often say Maintaining or Unproductive.   ((EDIT: Just took a look at mine on their, haven't in awhile.  Floats around each run, ##.25 to ##.61 in the last two weeks (~8runs)))

Along those same lines weight needs to be updated, if you loose just a little bit of weight it can shift your vo2max pretty quick!

  • That is it, my VO2 has been steady for a while and recently dropped slightly.  Great community here, thanks everyone for all the help.
