965 + HRM600 new metrics

Hi,

Some knows which(if) new metrics will trickle down from 970 to 965 ? I lost my HRM-PRO-plus last week so was going to buy a new one but now. I'm wondering if having HRM600 will give me all new running metrics (otherwise gonna hit some super promo offer). Since technically it's only software + HRM600 for ev impact metrics we should get them right ?

Not at this point no, but if they want to sell me a 600 they better activate it for forerunner 965 as well ;-)

I don't understand. The 970 needs the HRM600 for the step loss metric but you need the 970 to get the metric.

The 970 has quite a lot different hardware than 965 (GNSS chip, optical HR sensor, etc.) and a user interface that is closer to Fenix 8 than 965. Looking at what Garmin has done earlier in such situations…

Edit: Currently it states: NOTE: Step Speed Loss is only compatible with the Forerunner 970.

oh thanks for that link. So yeah probably we won't get that one. So no point buying HRM600 over HRMProPlus

Looking at what Garmin has done earlier in such situations, I wouldn't hold my breath for Garmin to trickle any of the new features to 965. Some minor things might happen, but probably none of the major new sellings points of 970.

As of now, yes. But I guess it's just a software update on other watches to make it work even there, but then we have the sales strategy, what watches will get it...?
