Is there a way to create a walking workout for the Forerunner 965?

Part of my training uses walking workouts with targeted heart rate intervals as a recovery mode.  My old 245 allowed me to create a Custom Workout that could be accessed through the Walk mode on the watch.  The 965 does not have the ability to load workouts.  Anybody have an idea for a work around?  Why did Garmin delete this feature from the walk mode.

  • I tried, and you can create a workout of type "Custom" in Garmin Connect, and send that to the watch. You can then select the walking activity, press up to get to the activity menu, select Workouts and your custom workout should be available (at least it did show on my watch when I tried).

  • That is the way I did it with my 245, but my 965 doesn't have an option for workouts walk mode, only setting overall time or distance.

  • What do you mean by "workouts walk mode"? Could you describe in steps what you have tried?

  • I went from watch Walk , Training ,Workouts then it says open connect and i created Custom Workout in Connect with HR range and it was available under walk activity. I set a distance with a HR range.

Its now also available in the Workouts App on the 965 and if you say Do activity you can select any of a multitude of activities (incl Walk) to use the Custom Workout

So my view if you create it as a custom workout type you will be able to achieve what you are looking for.

  • When I go to Walk, training, there is no option for Workouts,.

  • Have you gone to workouts The Workouts app / Activity and started from there?

Do you have workouts created in Connect or Express already. Try create a custom workout then go to the Workouts activity/ App and initiate from there.

What FW are you on , maybe its something added in Beta 23.xx - Yes , I looked and it is
