Using pool swim within a multisport activity, how can you transition out of the swim leg!?

Hi,

I have recently upgraded to this watch after breaking my glorious 735.
I've been creating multisport activity profiles on the 965 that include pool swimming (unlike the default triathlon profile that includes open water swimming).
When I include this activity the watch warns me that auto transition will be tuned off, and that's ok as I'm used to push a button.
My question is: which button will tell the watch the swim leg is over? "start/stop" actually stops the whole activity and if pressed again starts it again (as expected).
"back" starts the rest mode of pool swim and if pressed it again it starts a new swim interval.
I'm sure that I managed to do that with the 735 because I have a few of those activities on my garmin connect, but I forgot how to do it.

Thanks for you help

Davide

  • Long press on start button

  • nope, i tried that. it doesn't work. if it really does for you (please check) can you tell me exactly how you set up the activity?
I tried cloning the triathlon and replacing open water swim -> pool swim for the first leg and I also tried creating ex novo a multisport profile with a pool swim followed by something else.

  • yeah, I tried it now, it works with the lap/back button

  • but are we talking about POOL swim? how do you not enter the swim rest mode?
if you are talking about open water, yes I know it works.

  • Pool swim. I followed your steps. Copied Triathlon, changed the 1st leg to pool swim, saw the warning that thit disables auto change. Started an activity, clicked the lap button and it took me to the transition. Every further click of the lap button took me to the next step (sport #n -> transition or transition -> sport #n+1)

  • Thank you, that's very kind of you. But I'm really not understanding it. Do you have a 965 or some other Forerunner?
You didn't disable rest mode in pool swimming in some way that I could not find?
Can you do another check for me please: can you start a simple pool swim and tell me if you enter rest mode by pressing lap button there?
Also can we compare the sw version? I have 22.24 [DFU-aa5416]

  • fr965, FW: 22.24.
In pool swim lap button enters rest mode and back to swim.

In "Pool Triathlon" lap button enters transition to next sport.

  • I found the bug!!! Since I generally go to pools that are different sizes, I had enabled Pool Settings -> Pool size -> Prompt On so that the FR ask me every time which pool size to use. If I disable this feature it works like yours. I tried to put it back on and the problem reapperaed.

Give it a try if you're curious. I'll signal the bug to Garmin

  • Yeah I can recreate this on my FR955.

What's specifically happening is that after you answer the pool size prompt, the watch takes you to the Pool Swim activity, not the multisport activity you actually selected.

    This can be seen by:

    - noting the name and icon of the activity (before you press START)

    - noting that even if Pool Swim isn't the first leg of the multisport activity, it will still be opened after answering the pool size prompt

  • Thanks! BTW, do you know what is the standard procedure to report a bug?
