Forerunner HR Tracking for Strength Training

So I finally bit the bullet and moved to Garmin from my Apple Ultra 2. I love almost all about the watch (bit tricky to learn the interface vs Apple) especially the running features.  However, the HR accuracy for strength training is abysmal.    I am not looking for perfect accuracy, I can wear a HR strap to get closer. But its WILDLY inconsistent and often shows me in the 60s in the middle of heavy deadlifts.  I never had this issue with Apple.

Im just looking for consistency, seems this has been a known issue for quite some time. Do I need to go back to my Ultra 2 for strength training days?

  • Same here, often the reported HR during strength training drops to the low 40s and after some minutes it goes to 90, returns to 60 and finally shows a plausible value.
