No fuelling alerts/prompts

My FR965 recently updated to 22.24 and when that happened I lost one of the custom activities I'd set up. That's no big issue as I can recreate it but the big issue for me is the lack of audio prompts for fuelling.  As part of my marathon training I had set up alerts for eating and drinking at various time events and now this doesn't happen.  It was fine in February but seems to have stopped working after the last software update.  This is imperative to me during a marathon as fuelling is not only important but I don't want to have to keep looking at my watch to see if I am due.

Worth mentioning that all other prompts seem to work e.g. intervals, pace, km markers etc

Has anyone else experienced this and do they know a fix?

  • I utilize something like that for my 'Run' activity - with a Custom Alert, using the "EAT" selection every 20minutes... it has been working for me in the last couple weeks.   While I remembered, I just enabled it for 'Trail Run' as well.

  • Regarding loosing custom activities. etc.

What I do is create a copy of my device drive on my computer and then you can always pull back the "sports" onto the watch drive if necessary if you reset etc. Saved my bacon a few times. Helps with anything you change like the dats screens etc on the standard  activities as well.

  • I had that issue last year and I realized that those "fueling" alerts did not work within structured workouts that were created through "Runna" on my watch. They did still work in "normal" workouts. I also thought for a long time it was because of a software update, but it was just me starting to run following the "Runna" workouts. (ok, but still, it should also work in that case).

  • I had this happen to me today,. I was doing a long training run and I had set an eat alert for every 6.5 km. I received no notifications over my 23 km run. I was following a course I had imported from Strava via connect. I'm a bit disappointed it didn't work, as I have a race coming up and was hoping to make use of the alerts!

  • That rings a bell actually.  Most of my workouts are part of a structured plan in readiness for my fast approaching marathon.  I seem to recall reading something about some alerts not being generated while in a structured/custom workout.  Fingers crossed it works on marathon day.

  • Was on a trail run this weekend that was on a planned course and using navigation.  I made note of the 'EAT' notice because of this post, mine worked just fine throughout.  It wasn't a structured workout , so the only alerts I got were for turns, laps and EAT every 20minutes.   So worked as expected.

pretty quick easy check on your next non-workout run day , (easy run) try not using the requested workout.  Just follow it on your own and see if you get notices.  Or go for a walk (but as a 'run' activity) and see if it works.  Definitely want to be testing and fueling like you expect to during the marathon, gut training takes at least a few weeks/months to acclimate to higher carb intake during activities (especially at harder 'race' effort, although marathon pace might or might not be 'harder' depending on paces/experience).  getting down 3-4 gels an hour (or whatever fuel) takes a bit of getting used to for some people.

  • I've been testing fuelling strategies for a while to see which gels/drinks etc I get on with. I just fancied having a reminder rather than having to look at my watch. Lazy I know.  Good shout testing it on a walk. I've got a few rest days left until D-Day so could try that.

  • I went for a walk today and the alerts do work when not doing a DSW!

Seems strange why they do not work on DSW's, when a lot of people follow them. Do they work when using pacePro, I'll try it on the weekend?
