Garmin forerunner 965 software version 22.24

Hi,

I have a question. Since the issues surrounding garmin models last month I have disabled auto-update.

This morning I looked through the software versions and saw 22.24 was available.

My device however, isn't showing any updates with message 'no updates available' but a colleague does have this version (he disabled auto-update as well).

Are the versions gradually pushed or is there another explanation?

Thanks in advance!

Gev

  • I have disabled auto update some time ago and am currently on 19.18. As far as I can tell I am not missing out on any meaningful feature improvements and I didn't face any of the many reported bugs (battery drain, incorrect threshold values, crashes, HR dropouts) from the recent months. If you are happy with your current firmware, I can recommend disabling auto update until Garmin improve their software QA.

  • I've owned my watch for just about a year now and must say that I'm very happy with the way it so there's not much I'm missing. But there is actually some stuff that could be interesting for me. Also I think it's good practice security-wise to keep it up-to-date.

If you do a check for updates does it come with the 22.24 version? I'm currently on 21.22 btw.

  • (although looking at other posts about stability issues in 22.24 from the last x hours I might still wait with the update)

  • Yes my FR 965 on v19.18 is currently offering v22.24 at Menu > System > Software Update.
