Software version 22.24 heart rate reading bug

Just downloaded the update today and went for my first run and after the 3rd of 4 interval runs in heart rate zone 4 it went as normal to the 1.5min cooldown then back to the 4th and final interval run and I noticed the HR reading was still in Z4 where normally it drops to Z2/3 during the rest period.

So I started walking and it was slowly moving around  and after 1.5min it just instantly dropped to low 120's and I had to sprint to get it back to Z4, missing over half the 4min interval.

On the walk home the HR was abnormally high (150+) and it would not drop. Same when at home and rested. I restarted the device and it showed my normal/expected rest heart rate again.

Never had this before this update.

  • To be clear this was on the Forerunner 965

  • Was this with the wrist OHRM, or with a chest strap? The reason I ask is that OHRMs are notoriously bad for use in interval workouts, a chest strap is highly recommended in that situation.

  • It was with the wrist monitor.

  • Same for me. Seems to be exactly 30 bpm too high value. After today’s easy run I measured my pulse manually, it was 89 bpm but the watch (965) said 119. And during the run it showed 150-155, which is Z4 for me. A correct value would probably be 120-125 bpm. And just to be clear, it’s not a cadence lock problem. I was running with 175-178 spm.

  • My FR965 (22.24) heart rate spiked during 10 minute indoor cycling cooldown ride. This was after two indoor rides totaling 75 minutes. Cooldown was 105 bpm then abruptly to 148 in 9th minute. 965 was firmly on left wrist as during two longer rides which had no HR reading issues.
