dear all, when will Garmin start to sell Forerrunner 975 in Europe ?

I'm interested in purchasing a smartwatch with basic functions such as fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, GPS (excellent for navigation during hiking using maps), water resistance, and robustness (Gorilla Glass is acceptable). I need it mainly as a backup for hiking if my Oregon 600 series fails. Since Garmin hasn't released the Oregon 800 series for years, I'm considering a smartwatch with a  display 1.4-inch screen, 1.85-inch (47 mm) watch size, and lightweight under 70 grams. Besides the Forerunner 965 and Enduro 3, I don't see any other options. I don't want to spend €900 on a smartwatch for my needs. I'm waiting for the Forerunner 975 series, hoping for some improvements like an LED light. Do you know when it will be released?

Based on the latest information, the Garmin Forerunner 975 is expected to launch in early to mid-2025

  • Hey! You don't want spend €900 on watch and waiting for Fr975? Really? :)

  • Hi Mantikor, I assume FR975 probably will not cost so much. If yes I can wait or go for the FR 965 or Enduro 3 , I Though may be there is  other option (cheaper) for my need.

  • Please do buy it on its release day and be our beta tester! Because you are not seriously expecting this thing to work correctly from day one (if ever...)? Remember its Garmin...

  • If U don't need to create route directly on watches, U can try Fr265 or Fr165. It will be super if Fr975 will be cheaper than Fr965)

  • I like to download the hiking route (GPX) on smartwatch. Also if I am somewhere near mountain or forst then let navi give some hiking recommendation. Seeing it on nice map. Choosing some point ( how to find my car), not necessory via way back route .Rather from any place to find back. Would FR265 or 165 make it?

  • With the current state of Garmin software quality I would advise against relying on it in outdoor navigation. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. There is no rhyme and reason. I was lured by a promise of not having to take out my phone constantly to verify I am on a correct hiking path. But was let down by my FR965 multiple times, so I treat it (real time maps/navigation) as nothing more than a gimmick.

  • Thank you, bwyspa, for your feedback and sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. It's frustrating to spend a lot and not get what you expected. I'm very satisfied with the Oregon 600 series for hiking and biking navigation, and I assume similar functionality should be available on a smartwatch. I wonder if others have had similar experiences to yours. That would be interesting to know.

  • Neither  165 nor 265 have proper mapping just breadcrumb. You need a 955 or 965 or one of the outdoor ranges . There are very good deals on the prior model Fenix / Epix now that the new one is out. Look at DC Rainmaker YT channel also Mat leBlanc, Chase the Summit and DesFit. They have good reviews and comparisons. DCR website is also full of detail on each device

  • Hi S.M.R,

Thank you for your feedback and recommendations. I'll wait to see the difference between the FR 975, 965, and Enduro 3 before making a decision.
