Automatic screen on/off at sea

Hello everyone. Maybe this problem has already been discussed here, but I couldn't find it. The problem is this: I work at sea on a ship, and when I take off my watch and put it on the table, the screen starts turning on and off by itself and does so until I put it on my wrist. Moreover, no options such as: turning on the screen by gesture, AOD, "do not disturb" mode, sleep or turning off the screen do not affect it in any way. Only turning off the built-in heart rate sensor affects it - without it, the screen does not turn on on the table. Is there a solution? Turning the heart rate monitor on and off when putting on / taking off the watch is so-so, especially since it cannot be assigned to hot keys.

  • I would imagine that the movement of the boat activates the heart sensor and this turns on the screen. I would try to put it on something soft, like a tablecloth, a shirt, a towel, a bed... so that the surface stays in contact with the heart sensor. You could also try to put it upside down, with the screen in contact with the table and the heart sensor facing up.

  • Thank you for your response. I tried it with a soft cloth and put it face down, the effect is the same. Probably the gyro sensor is somehow involved, I don't even know. At the same time, the heart rate sensor does not light up, which is quite strange.

  • I have similar experience when mount my watch to my bike during MTB ride.
