Data Field showing in IQ app but not on watch

  1. I have a new Forerunner 965 and am trying to get the Unit Converter data field installed to it.  The Garmin IQ app is showing it as installed however when I go to add it to my run activity it is not there.  Other data fields I have installed are there.  Can’t seem to find an answer to this one.
  • well, this whole process is completely crapping the bed.  to wit:

    - uninstalled "Walker" just now, and installed "hiker"

    - Got to Garmin Connect app on my phone and try to add the new datafield to my "Hike" activity.  When I get to the CIQ fields to add, the only 2 that are available to me are F3b Dozenwalk (which I have used for years), and......drumroll...WALKER.

    - When just for fun, I select WALKER to install (to see what happens since it has been UNinstalled), it shows up in my list as F3b Dozenwalk!

    - When I go back in to select F3b Dozenwalk, it shows up as a completely different CIQ datafield from my Bike activity profile!

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so frurstrating.

  • yesss, this is the crazy bug... I suffer from this for 4 years (fr245, fenix6, fr965), but it arguably gets worse and worse with time

  • I suppose the only answer is Nuclear, just reset the device to default?

  • I think you can try to reset the activity's settings to default: Walk settings > Restore to Defaults

Most of the time this works.

  • Well I got it all to work again by deleting the Stryd Zones DF.  there's something about that one that appears to be hosing up the entire works.  maybe you have an offending DF that is doing the same.

  • I don't think so. The 2 issues are totally different:

    1. the system only displays the 1 or 2 CIQ DF-s already in the layout and missing the rest that are installed on the device

    2. when you start an activity it (or the other CIQ field) crashes (IQ!) because the two fields try to create more FIT fields that is possible.

I'm pretty sure the 1st problem could be reproduced with only 3 datafields, none of them contributing to the FIT file, including some Garmin made (that were downloaded from the store) - Once I installed a Garmin field like that to prove the point to the not very clever agent that this doesn't happen because of a badly written field.

  • well yeah, the CIQ datafield crashes are a different bug than what this thread is about.

For whatever reason, deleting the Stryd Zones DF fixed my issue with the CIQ fields not showing up on the watch.

  • let us know if the bug comes back (with or without the Stryd field)

  • All,

We are aware of this disruption and are investigating. If you have not yet reached out to Product Support, please respond with permission for me to reach you via email so I can add you to the investigation. Thank you!

  • Hi Sierra - Thank you very much.  As I said above, I contacted Garmin Support but my resolution was only temporary and I would greatly appreciate a fix for this.
