Data Field showing in IQ app but not on watch

  1. I have a new Forerunner 965 and am trying to get the Unit Converter data field installed to it.  The Garmin IQ app is showing it as installed however when I go to add it to my run activity it is not there.  Other data fields I have installed are there.  Can’t seem to find an answer to this one.
  • Hi, I'm the developer of Unit Converter and I happen to be also one of the victims of this bug forums.garmin.com/.../bug-ciq-datafields-disappear-from-activity

I don't know who and why locked that thread...

Please report the bug to Garmin Customer Support (support.garmin.com/.../) because the last time I reported it they explicitly told me they don't know about this bug, I am the first to report (even though I myself reported it years ago on both fr245, fenix6, and the issue just got worse on fr965 since). Last time I reported it was just 2 days ago, because this time the usual workarounds didn't work, so I'm totally stuck...

What you can try (annoying, and only sometimes it works) is to reset the activity settings to default and then try to add the 2 CIQ fields you want and then set the rest of the settings for the activity.

BTW you haven't include your email in the message you sent via Contact Developer, so I couldn't respond there

  • This drives me crazy! So much so, that I have a hike planned for tomorrow, and although I would like to switch one of my CIQ fields to another one, but it doesn't show up, and I am "paralyzed" - meaning I am afraid to remove the field because I'm not sure I'll be finding the other one I want to switch to, and if I won't find it then at least will I be able to put the current one back!?

FYI the situation is pretty bad...

    • Thsnks. I have contacted Garmin support they couldn’t recreate the issue and now I have a link to share the folder from my watch with them (or something).  Then they will raise a case.
  • Yes they are never able to recreate it. It's some edge case (from their perspective) that only affects a handful of users, though for me it's happening almost 100% of the time and thus very frustrating. It really makes the activities less fun and the virtually non existant possibility to add CIQ data fields useless.
What's interesting is doesnt only happen on one device, it happens on all devices I own, so it's somehow related to my usage pattern (number of installed DF-s or something like that)

You could copy the activity and then edit it as you describe.  You'd always have your original activity to use if needed.

  • my activities list is already a pile of garbage because of these bugs...

  • Gotta reiterate what everyone else here has said - this is driving me nuts.  All of my activities are showing CIQ fields maxed out at 2/2 (even when there is only one present) - and when I try to add a new one, it only shows the one that is currently there as an option despite my having 6+ "installed" to the watch per Garmin Connect.

I guess I gotta deal with the Garmin support, but it doesn't look like it's helping anyone.

  • PLEASE report to Garmin customer support! https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ql/?focus=topics every time I report this they tell me I am the only person they know of who has this bug.

  • okay so following up - in my case the support team and I narrowed this down to the "Stryd Zones" app hosing up the works.  Once I uninstalled that, all of my other CIQ fields showed up again
