Cycling Calories recorded on Edge 840 not coming up on Connect

I'm using the forerunner 965 watch (not for cycling, but I use it during the ride) The cycling activies are recorded on my Garmin 840, that works perdect.

However the calories are not coming up to my connect or the watch.

For example Today, 1:25pm:

  • - Woke up and did a 2 hours ride with this data in the CYCLING ACTIVITY recorded
    • Active Calories 1171
    • Total Calories 1337

Then My watch shows only 850 Active + 1151 Rest.

What concerns me is the fact calories are not being overrided by those recorded in the Garmin 840 unit, the device specifically designed to track cycling activities.

During the activie the watch is on my wirst but not tracking any sport activity at all, as it should be given the fact I have the edge 840 for this.

The main reason why I moved out from Apple watch and Hammerhead Karoo 2 was exactly to have a single point of data. One platform to have the holistic view of my activities, stress load and calories.

For me it's clearly a bug as garmin should expect users to have watch + edge devices.

Any idea how can I workaround this ?

Thanks,

  • I believed the solution for that would be mark the Edge 840 as primary device but that is not the case, I tracked my cicle activity normally with the edge and disabled the connection between the watch and my phone, saved the ride and calories were properly loaded to connect after synching them. All good right ?

Until I enable the connection with the watch again and it overrides heart rate and calories.

I should have 870 active calories from the ride, it was reverted to the watch to 480 calories "only". There is frustrating because I feel I need to trow away the cycling GPS (Garmin as well) as whatever he does, will be overriden by the watch and that makes absolutely no sense.
