Running Powermeter connection no longer working

Garmin, please look into this issue.  Since the latest update a connection to external 3rd party sensor as powermeter is no longer supported in the Garmin Run profile.  Many Stryd users are reporting this issue as they use a CIQ datafield in the Run profile that uses the connection to Stryd for reporting and logging running power, but since the latest firmware update this ability appears to have been disabled.  People are also using this connection to display running power on the Engo 2 glasses which is also affected by this issue.  Please don't simply state that Garmin Running Power from the watch or HRM should be used because that is NOT the answer.  Running Power from a watch or chest strap is 100% inferior to the foot pod.  I can definitely say I will not be updating my 965 firmware until this issue is corrected and will move away from the Garmin platform if needed.

  • Is everyone still experiencing this?  Oddly my 965 DOES connect and display Power on my CIQ data screen but it's only hit or miss, roughly 1 out of 3 runs.  This is very strange behavior and I don't know what's causing it.  I do see there is a new FW version but I haven't had the chance to test it yet.

  • Since the update from Activelook I have no issues anymore. In every run I had I could see Power metrics again in my Engo2 glasses. Don't know if it helps you to update FW. You could also try to remove and reinstall Activelook datafield from Garmin Express. I noticed that the beta from Activelook did not had the update, you have to have the stable version. Which version are you using?

  • I'm using a CIQ datafield (DRNG10c0) and I don't see any updates for that.  Not sure why it's only working intermittently.

  • badbri, Engo did make a fix on their end and published an update to their Activelook data field.  It seems that Garmin hasn't made any fix for this and it's been up to the developers of the CIQ data fields to make a fix on their end.  You most likely need to contact the developer of DRNG10c0 data field and notify them of the issue so they can make a fix

  • That's correct. Garmin replied my case that they don't gonna fix this in FW, they said 3rd party have to fix this on their own. I think pbRun and Activelook have solved this for their datafield. Hopefully DRNG10c0 can do the same for you badbri.

  • Thanks both - luckily I found DRNG10CO's forum post and asked him/her about it.

  • I see the power (W) on the Engo and don't seem to need to select PWR from the Sensors menu.  The power shown on the Engo seems way off from the Stryd datafield and more inline with what the internal watch power shows.

Are others having this issue?  It seems that there is no way to get the Stryd power to the watch native fields and no way to get the Stryd power to override the watch power.

  • First question: Have you turned off Garmin Power? Otherwise it wil not show Stryd's Power.
