bugs and problems sugestion

I Ask Garmin to make a close thread.

With some rules have more transparency for everyone, if the user have or detect some problem on the Fr965....contact the Garmin support, if the support solve the problem everything is ok, if not, Garmin put the problem on that close thread and when the problem is solved is marked, underline, however.

At first glance seems give a lot of work for Garmin make this suggestion....but the benefits is more than the work..

  • I am not sure what you are saying to be honest? I have seen Product Support agents be very transparent but Forums is not the place for that lol. Forums is for users to talk amongst each other until it gets to a point where you need to speak with Garmin about a bug and have them help you solve it. They don't help you solve it on here but the monitors can be helpful! But again, not sure what you are saying.

  • How many problems with the 965 report here on the forum never be solved ? The locked thread just remember Garmin for future bug fixes.

Seems you are lucky with Garmin support and you no have any problem on the watch, but have people without that luck.

  • Garmin isn’t very open about bugs in the firmware. Their first reaction is to deny it and make it as hard as possible to submit.a bug (is my experience)

I doubt they want a list of known bugs all in the open.

  • If Garmin is open or close about bugs it's up to Garmin, if in the near future want new costumers needing to be more transparent in the way to solve the problems.

One person but a 650€ device and after about 2 years the firmware updates finish, and the costumers staying in hands with a expensive toy full of bugs without solution.

Buy another device and the story repeat.

Need to have more transparency with the user.

  • I agree with you.

Garmins are quite expensive (and becoming ridiculously expensive) and it hurts me as programmer and as consumer how low the firmware quality is, how little garmin tests and how they handle bug reports.

Sure, if I buy an other brand it will also have bugs, but a buggy 650 euro devices hurts more than a buggy 350 euro device (which has, for me, the same functionality).

But quite a lot of people select a garmin because it has the longest feature list and are happy with all the data it produces, without questioning the quality, it seems to me.

  • I'm working in quality control, tech company, and if companys like Garmin not starting change the Beauvoir....the costumers going out.

I think and believe in 2 things: Trust and transparency.

  • You are overestimating quite a few garmin buyers.

A lot think garmin is just better because it has more features than other brands. They really don’t care if those features are usefull, accurate or actually work. They just want more. Also with data. Just more data is better, and some users even get quite aggressive when you dare to question that data.

Garmin sales are also really good lately, so garmin has little incentive there to up their quality.

I do realize, working as a developer, I tend to see more bugs and are more bothered by it. Same will be for you working in quality control. I can only keep reporting poor quality, although I don’t expect it will make a big impact at garmin. And advice fellow athletics that they are better of with an other brand watch for a lot less. Made quite a few people happy that way and when my watch is written of, I will follow to an other brand (and make some fanboys here on the forum very happy, lol)

  • I feel the same (also as a software developer) quite some tests could easily be automated (like the current one were touch is on during an activity even it is disabled) and overall the amount if bugs that are introduced with every updated shows for me that there is not enough testing / quality assurance. Also a better/more open/transparent bug tracking system would give me a better feeling. It is kind of a shame that for me the watch did what I expected right from the start but then updates started to introduce bugs that were really annoying. I am not saying that i am not happy about new features but I would appreciate if the bugs have a higher priority and that the releases would be tested more. And that a release maybe is postponed if already in the beta froum it is obviuos that there will be major bugs.
For now i stopped the automatic updates and will just update when I have the feeling that it is worth it and that hopefully the major bugs are already tackled.

  • The quantity it's not simonimous of quality, not in Garmin, not anywhere.

Blind data vs accurate data vs reality...some space between this adjectives, I understand you. my idea is simple:

Make a close thread with the bugs in line.

because when a user contact the support about 1 bug...sometimes that bug disappear from the priorities.

And for me this type of policy is not transparent.

I do not live with promises, and before put my money on the pocket of company's like Garmin ..I wanna know per example how many time I had in firmware updates, per example.

if I buy now one smartphone Samsung or smartwatch I know how many years I have updates.
