Faulty HR Sensor

Hey,  So I have a new Garmin 965 and I have not been happy with it's HR sensor performance.  I also tried connecting a polar H10, but the outcome is actually worse.  The watch is running 20.32 and the HR readings are just too high.  I concluded the Polar H10 is probably not compatible with this 965, fine, but the watch's HR sensor is just as bad.  I have had other Garmin watches so I know how to wear them, and now am I thinking I got a defective unit.  I know it has been an issue in the past, has anyone else have had this issue with 20.32?

Thanks

  • The watch is not altering the heart rate from the H10, so it is very unlikely that the watch is the reason for the trouble. The H10 is compatible, there are many users wearing it.

  • How old is the H10 strap and do you wash it regularly? Polar recommend washing it after every use and putting it in the washing machine once a week. I had a problem with my H10 while using my 965, getting erratic readings, I washed the strap in the washing machine and it's been fine since, I now do this once a week as well as washing it in the shower after my run.

  • The H10 is a couple of years old.  I have not put the strap in the washer for fear of damage but I do jump in the shower with it (w/o sensor) and wash it after every activity.  The H10 works great with my other Garmin devices but not my 965.  I just replaced the battery on the H10, hopefully it solves the issue.  Thanks for the input!
