Audio prompts just stopped working

I'm hoping someone can help.  I know this has been raised before but that was to do with earlier software.

Until August 2024 I was a Fenix 7 user and used audio prompts.  I then changed to the FR965 and everything worked as per the Fenix which was great. My workouts are split into many intervals and segments with differing paces or heart rate zones for varying durations.  Up until around the end of October everything worked fine.  I would get a prompt telling me what to do and for how long, interrupting my music but now it's just stopped working unless I stop the music playing.

All the prompt settings are as they should be on both the watch and via the Connect app.  I am using an iphone 14 Pro (iOS 18.01) and I've not performed any updates to that recently.  My FR965 is running software version 20.32.  For headphones I am using Shokz Open Run Pro and they have a multi point pairing to my 965 and my iphone.

Oddly when it used to work my audio prompts would be a male voice even though it's set to UK female (as is my iPhone Siri).  I'm not fussed really about the voice sex but just another weird one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this feature is really helpful as I can't always see what my next internal is when I'm running.

  • Audio prompts are a mess. 
    garmin is doing all sort of things with it, resulting n annoyed people who get unwanted audio prompts (during navigation) and other people who are annoyed because they don’t get audio prompts when they want them.

    it would really help if garmin would explain what they are doing with audio prompts and even better if they would listen to their customers in stead of annoying them.

  • I'm happy to help, . Does it make a difference if you only have your headphones paired to your watch? Regarding the audio prompt voice- we are aware and investigating. May I have permission to reach you via email so I can add you to the investigation? 

  • I’ve not tried just pairing the headphones to the watch as my music is on my phone. I don’t use any of the music apps on my watch. Please feel free to contact me via email.

  • I’m having the same issue, I have a course and a work out going and they are working at the start of the run then the just stop working. Spotify still works so phone and headphones are connected okay.

    My wife has the same problem and she also use headphones paired to smartphone, not to watch.

    Instead, I have FR955 and use headphones paired with watch and audio prompts work well.

  • I have intermittent loss of audio prompts, most days it works, but on occasions nothing.

    I've found, for me, if I restart my phone the audio prompts are back. I think the problem is Garmin connect mobile. 

    Using the headphones connected to the watch and everything works fine.
