Editing workouts don't sync to device.

When editing a workout it doesn't sync to the device even after manually syncing. I can sync a new workout or copy an existing one and sync that just fine, but edits don't sync.

Is this intentional and everyone's perception of edit and sync is incorrect and this is a very unintuitive feature? (edit essentially doesn't actually do anything, if intentional would love to know the point of the edit button)

Or is this an issue that I found on the forum 2 years ago that's still happening on brand new devices today and has been ignored by Garmin?

I would consider the ability to edit a workout basic functionality.

  • did you try deleting the workout on your watch, or changing the name of the newly edited workout, and then syncing again?  I've definitely had this issue, where the workout on the watch won't 'update', but it can be replaced.

  • Yes, this is a common problem/issue for me as well!  I have worked around it by just creating copies anytime I edit them... or renaming the workout I believe works also.  So I just add a v3, v4, etc for each version

  • If you edit a workout, you have to resend it to the watch. A sync will not resync workouts.

If you edit a workout scheduled today in your calendar, it might not update after synching depending on the time of the day. You can send the workout to the watch and execute the locally saved workout.
