HR stays low for many minutes when starting an exercise

Running firmware 20.32 on my 965.  When I select an activity, it seems like my watch does not recognize the fact my HR has been increasing and stay reading around my normal resting HR of around 60 from when I hit the Start button.  It will stay this way for 5 minutes until I take the watch off, then put it back on and it starts indicating the correct HR.  Almost like waking it up.  I have no tattoos, the watch sensor is clean, and my skin has no sunscreen on it.  I've had the watch for about 6 months now and this just started happening a few weeks ago.

  • I saw similar issue a few days ago: after a few minutes I noticed that I forgot to connect the polar H10 so I connected it in the middle of running (in the watch menu) and the hr jumped from 122 to 152

  • Same here. After starting a workout (running) HR stays low, around 115. After 5 mins it starts to show the real HR, 135–140. FW20.31

  • so I am not the only one..... Never had to complain about an update - but this has broken the ANT+ connection to my Polar H10 with again it 'sticking' to HR zones and not updating.... Pretty important to me as I am following a plan based on HR runs and I cannot get correct readings.

  • I don't think that's the same problem. If I understand correctly others here (including me) have problem with the built-in optical sensor's HR readings, not some external sensor's

  • Eso es, en mi caso con el sensor polar H9 no tengo problemas. El problema es con el sensor óptico, y este problema fue después de la 20.31. Antes iba bien

  • I'm having this problem. The built-in sensor is reading my heart rate...usually normal but it will occasionally show a sudden huge drop which scares me to death, only to realize I'm fine and I don't think that is actually happening. Something has gone wonky with this thing. BTW- how does anyone know which version of update they have? I checked and can see my watch is up to date but cannot find a way to read which version I'm running.

  • Menú configuración/ Sistema/ Acerca de

Ahí te sale la versión de software

  • Hi, does anyone know the latest working version? My new Forerunner 965 is still on version 19.18. I have deactivated auto-updates to be on the safe side.
Up to which version could I safely update?
I also have problems with low HR on my old 955.

  • Thank you for sharing, everyone. We appreciate your feedback regarding heart rate data during activities. Since we've released software version 21.19, I'd like you to test out a few more activities and create a new thread if you still see HR inaccuracies. Thank you!
