Garmin Express sync on Mac broken

Hi, I recently wanted to update and sync my wife's 265 and got sync errors. She has a MacBook Pro with latest Apple OS. I did not find a solution and gave up after I tried reinstalling and other watches like my 965.

No i was trying to sync my 965 with my MacBook Air 15" M1 and what to say, the same happens here.

So I tried my Edge 1040 and surprise surprise, it worked!

So I tried my 965 again and it did not.

I also changed the cable!

  • I gave up garmin express on a mac long ago. It didn't work properly with my old forerunner 935 and it doesn’t work properly with my current 965.

I don”t expect any improvements from garmin, tbh,

  • Use it  on my Mac with my 965 and earlier with no major issues.

Have you tried deleting /removing the application and reinstalling form a new image?

Also removing and re adding the 965

    I have a M1 Mac also

  • Did all of that, reinstall of App and Watches …

  • Same for me and good to know it is not a single/personal issue.

Once I saw an error message for a corrupt file but I don't remember its name and cannot trigger this message again.

  • Same here, I had to use windows for that Pensive

  • I've got the same issue, Mac M1 Sequoia and 965

  • OK, I found a solution I found on the Express Forum and mixed with the official non working Garmin Solution:

    1. Open Finder.

    2. Select Go from the menu bar at the very top of the screen.

    3. Hold down the Option key on the keyboard.

    4. Select Library, then release the Option key.

    5. Open the Application Support folder.

    6. Open the Garmin folder.

    7. Open the Express folder.

    8. Open the RegisteredDevices folder.

    9. Open the folder with the 10 digit Unit ID for your device (this can be found on the Aboutscreen on the device ex. FR965 itself if there are multiple folders present).

    10. Drag the 10 Digit Unit ID folder example 3456704437 to the Desktop and restart Express.

    11. It should do a complete resysnc of the device and then you can delete the moved folder as Garmin Express created a new on your MAC which is not corrupt anymore.

  • I think in Express, removing, then adding back in your 965 does the same.  Thats is what I did and I'm not longer getting syn issues.

  • Tried both methods and still get the sync issue.

  • All,

We have been tracking reports of this error message, but it looks like most users are actually still able to sync. If you are having any issues with Garmin Express, please contact Product Support directly so we can verify whether or not your specific issue fits the current report so you can either be added to the impact or have a different report created if necessary.

    Thank you!
