Hey everyone,
I’ve been using my Forerunner 965 for a while now and I absolutely love it. However, there are two major issues I’ve encountered when using course maps:
1. Losing the course track frequently: This happens quite often, and I think it’s because the default zoom level is too high. It’s super easy to miss a turn when you’re zoomed in too much, and if you go off course, there’s no automatic zoom out to help you locate where you lost the trail and get back on track.
2. Switching to my iPhone for course overview: When I lose the track, I tend to switch over to my iPhone to see the full course and figure out where I am. But the issue here is with Garmin Connect: when I hit the location button, it zooms out to show the entire course instead of pinpointing my position on the map. That’s not helpful when you’re trying to quickly navigate. So, I end up exporting the .GPX file to a different app just to visualize the route while I’m running — which is a bit ridiculous mid-run, right?
So, either I’m not using my devices properly (which is totally possible), or Garmin has a great opportunity to improve the map functionality on both the watch and the app!
Anyone else facing this or have any tips to make map management easier?
