stutter audio with BT headphones after 10 min

I have a problem with my BT headphones.
I have already tried the problem with three different headphones.

The problem is as follows.
The headphones connect successfully and I can play the music (Spotify) successfully.

However, after a certain time (once 10 min, once approx. 20 min) the music starts to stutter. It sounds as if you have run out of range. Of course, it has not changed the range. Watch on my wrist and headphones in my ear.

I simply assume that either the headphones or the watch wants to save some energy and is reducing the BT power. Since it occurs with three headphones from different manufacturers, I suspect it's the watch doing it.
Is there any way to set or prevent this?

  • I'm having a similar issue with my 965. Being in an activity, after 10-15 the music starts stuttering. Pausing the music or skipping a song doesn't help in my case. However, after again 10-15 it starts acting normal again. Then after 10-15 min stuttering again, and repeat. Very annoying i have to say. Never had these problems with my headphones before.

  • Presently dealing with this with my Shokz OpenSwim Pro's and my Fenix 7s solar (19.41) on runs. Garmin support answer acknowledges there is an overall issue, however, unknown if there will ever be a fix in place for these in particular. I have less than a month and if Garmin doesn't update I'll have to find another pair.

Has anyone successfully used Shokz products and their Garmin watches? I'm thinking of maybe exchanging for the non-swim models.

  • Yes. I use OpenRuns and OpenFit Airs all the time, and they work pretty well. Some very occasional stuttering that lasts just a couple of seconds. However, if I am using maps, and following a course, the issue appears more often, and sometimes the watch crashes. It seems to me more of a processing power problem than a Bluetooth connection one.

  • In my case it is a bit different: I get some slow stuttering at the very beginning. It plays music for a few seconds and stops it for another few seconds, plays music again and so on. Sometimes it gets better after some time. But mostly I switch head phones off and switch it on again or try to re-establish BT connection. Sometimes I had to move away from my home and try it again. Maybe it works better, when there are less BT devices around.
But I cant tell the reason because of the randomness of the events.

  • It feels a little better now.
The last two runs I almost thought it was gone, but after about 30-40 minutes it started to stutter again.
But the stuttering has also got better. It ‘only’ stuttered for 1-2 minutes and then it went back to normal.

But I also have to say that I've only had 3 long runs in the last few weeks where I had BT headphones with me.

It can't have anything to do with other BT devices in my case. It also occurs in the forest when there is nobody else within a radius of 100 metres.

  • I have same issue on my FR955 but only with "modern" headphones wich uses most recent versions of BT. With a 5 years old and very cheap headphones it work good

  • Same issue with Garmin Epix gen 2 and Fresh 'N Rebel wireless earbuds. Nothing seems to work, rebooting, reconnecting, skipping song, changing side where I wear the watch. Very disappointing functionality and service for such an expensive watch...
