New features email

Why has Garmin decided to provide an email detailing new features?

Garmin messenger app looks interesting.

BUT it uses inReach satellite capability...NOT AVAILABLE IN THE 965.

Blatant advertising.

Pity they don't advise by email the bugs fixed in the latest version.

  • It is available if you connect the watch to an InReach device or it is connected to your phone/Wifi network.

  • I wouldn't mind so much if Garmin emailed new features as they became available. But this is the first such email.

    Just smacks of blatant marketing.

Why use Garmin messenger app when your phone is connected to WiFi.

    All my friends use WhatsApp.

None will use the messenger app due to it's inherent limitations (and probably lots of bugs, as I doubt the app has been thoroughly tested by Garmin - that's what they expect the users to do)

  • I have gotten a couple emails over the last year or two with new feature announcements.

  • It's the second time I get this e-mail. A couple of months I got exact the same. It's about the new features of firmware 19.xx.

Pity they don't advise by email the bugs fixed in the latest version.

Garmin doesn't track bugs fixes very well. They are also hardly mentioned in the release notes. It wouldn't be much work for garmin to do a better job, since they don't fix that many bugs.

  • Probably the inReach sales are lower than expected, so they sent the same marketing email again...
