Disable Activity Tracking / Steps in the Forerunner 965

How can I disable the Activity Tracking / Step Count on my new Forerunner 965?

I have disabled all the related warnings, but just want to save some battery as I never use Activity Tracking / Step counts.

On my previous 265, there was an option to disable Activity Tracking.

There is no option to turn off activity or step tracking on the 965 or most newer garmin devices with real time tracking.

but the 265 is newer and it has the option to disable activity tracking / steps.

I just want to turn it off to save battery on my 965 just like I did on my 265.

Garmin hasn’t supported the ability to disable tracking in the last several watches. The 265 and 965 share the same software. I don’t think you actually turned off tracking but just disabled all the alerts.

oh .. now you have me rethinking the 265 setting. I was pretty sure that I could disable .. hmm but now I cannot remember to confirm .. maybe there was a software update that changed the setting .. or my memory is just bad ... i just sold my 265 yesterday so cannot check the current status. ok thanks. sounds like it is a lost cause regardless. sadly.
