Watchface fron Watchface Builder, where they are?

Unfortunately, the watchfaces cant be found anymore under garmin/apps. Therefore not possible to delete them from watch when connected via Garmin Express. Did someone found out where they are stored and with which name?

  • You have to use Garmin Express on a pc now. Yet another garmin regression

  • Thanks, but i did use Garmin Express with PC.

  • Works perfectly fine for me

  • TL;DR sideloaded apps (CIQ apps that are manually copied to the watch) can be deleted either via Garmin Express (PC/Mac) or the Connect IQ mobile app (EDIT: at least on iOS). They can’t be deleted from the “file system” (under \GARMIN\APPS) because CIQ apps are no longer accessible to the end user via USB.

For context for other people reading this thread, I think you are talking about CIQ watchfaces which were sideloaded by manually copying a PRG file (generated by a 3rd-party app/site) to the \GARMIN\APPS folder on the watch, rather than downloading them from the store as usual.

The reason you don’t see PRGs under \GARMIN\APPS anymore is that Garmin moves CIQ apps to inaccessible storage for security purposes. Initially this was done for music apps, and in newer devices, it’s also done for watchfaces (and possibly other app types).

I assume you’re referring to the fact that it was once possible to delete sideloads via the Connect IQ mobile app, then at some point it wasn’t possible. This bug has now been fixed, at least on iOS, so it’s possible to delete sideloads via Connect IQ again.

Did you use the Garmin Express app itself, or did you try to use the File Explorer in Windows? Based on this comment, it seems like you were looking in the File Explorer:

  • Thanks for make it more clear. Yes, i meant to sideload a watchface via Windows explorer. unfortunately i think at the moment theres no possibility to delete them. with android theres still this bug in garmin connect. So hopefully they willl fix it also...
