Voice Prompts for Turns during Course Navigation - Turn Off!!

All of the sudden, my FR 965 has started giving me voice turn notifications.  I *want* the vibration prompts on my watch but I do not want the voice prompts.  The only way I have been able to disable the voice prompts is to turn off turn notifications, but that turns off the prompts coming from the watch which is not acceptable.

Help!

  • My suspicion is that this change is on purpose and part of a move of garmin towards voice commands and audio feedback. It is not going to change back, I’m afraid. To me, it sounds like horror.

  • Voice commands are a nice feature in general, but not having a simple control to turn them off without losing discrete navigation prompts from the watch is a truly bizarre oversight. If I'm navigating using my watch while keeping my phone tucked away safely in a bag, I don't want to have to rifle through the bag to find the phone to turn the volume down to stop people staring at me when my bag shouts "In 50 yards, turn left"! With 9 pages of comments and complaints on this thread, surely we can expect a fix in the 21.xx beta update which I'm guessing will be out soon?

  • Hi, yes, agree, this is very annoying and I hope it will be fixed/changed in othere fw releases...

  • This is so annoying! I ran with navigation today and the voice prompts (which I don't want) kept making the podcast that was playing through my headphones glitch so I had to turn the map off and check the route on my phone periodically instead. Please, Garmin, give us the vibration only choice!!!

  • Please Garmin, have it so we can have separate settings for phone navigational prompts and watch navigational prompts

  • This is already a long living annoyance.

By now, garmin atleast should be able to tell if they are willing to listen to their customers and plan to change this annoying behavior or that they don’t find it important and are not willing to do something about it.

Or is it the third possibility, you are only compiling a list of people who are annoyed and there is no discussion at garmin about it.

    What is it?

  • I think it's a matter of voice instructions overall. I have one old notification 100m before the destination of the route, which I have switched off and still hear it in my headphones. I hope Garmin is going to do something about it because it's completely unusable like this...

  • I thought Garmin listened to its customers. What a disappointment! My next watch will be a Suunto

  • I am really starting to regret switching over from Coros, who actually do listen...

  •  I'm also in "never garmin again" mode. Even if other brands are just as buggy and also don't listen to their customers, at least you pay a lot less money.

(and I make some garmin fanboys very happy, lol)
