Voice Prompts for Turns during Course Navigation - Turn Off!!

All of the sudden, my FR 965 has started giving me voice turn notifications.  I *want* the vibration prompts on my watch but I do not want the voice prompts.  The only way I have been able to disable the voice prompts is to turn off turn notifications, but that turns off the prompts coming from the watch which is not acceptable.

Help!

  •  Is garmin working on getting rid of the unwanted voice navigation alerts? They are really very annoying.

Im also trying dutch garmin support to do something, but unfortunately dutch garmin support is a really disappointing experience.

  • In order to turn audible Turn Prompts off, you need to disable them from the Connect app > More > Garmin Devices > Select your device > Navigation > Alerts > Turn Prompts. This became necessary in 19.XX, which I reported. We have another report regarding this setting also disabling Turn Prompt vibrations. We are tracking the feedback of a request to have vibration alerts separate from audio (turn) alerts. I'm not sure if or when this would be changed, but that's the latest so far.

  • Garmin-Sierra, do I need to log a complaint on the report that the setting disables the vibrations?

Previous to 19.XX, the turn notifications prompt *was* vibration only (or at least it was on my FR 965 and Fenix 6s), so I'm struggling as how this is being treated as a request as if it's a feature add, when it was a bug in 19.XX that messed it up.

  • If you're not already added to the report, I can add you! There is nothing else you would need to do. I understand the confusion over the reasoning for this change. That is what my first report was about when beta 19.XX was released.

  • Yes please add me. thank you!

  •   That is an totally unacceptable suggestion because that turns off all alerts.  I follow a route, so I need the beeps and vibration to alert me of upcoming corners but I don’t want voice out load on my iPhone, quite obvious.

It is clearly garmin didn’t think this change through . Roll it back as fast as the software developers can, please.

  • And it doesn't work (incorrectly) consistently as the On/Off course still works as it should without Audio,.

There needs to be a separate menu under Audio prompts for Turn By Turn and Off Course options for audio.

  • To a non-native English speaker your message here reads as totally jumbled. Is the current situation a Bug or a Feature?

If the choice is Watch Vibration AND Audio through a possibly connected Phone/Earbuds OR No Alerts At All, then Garmin obviously disregards a natural sense division - as well as deaf users, social group runs or innocent fellow nature occupants.

Please add me as vehemently opposing such a state of order (play?). Vibration alerts MUST be seperate from Audio alerts, say I with a FR955 - and probably a bunch more if this post was advertised in the other fora.

  • This has been driving me crazy as well, but I THINK I've found a work-around on my FR955: Disconnect your watch from your phone.

    From your Watch:
Hold down the middle/Up button -> Scroll into Settings -> Connectivity -> Phone
    From the Connect App:
Homescreen -> Watch icon -> Tap device -> Connectivity -> Phone -> Untoggle 'Status'

I tried this biking and running and so far so promising. I got buzz cues but nothing verbal.

    Hope it works for you!

  •  I use live tracking (for the ease of mind of my gf), so that would not work.

What’s the problem? Garmin decided to always turn on voice alerts. The users don’t want that. Just accept your mistake and roll it back. Simple as that, and everybody happy.

And stop making this kind of adjustments. The always on optical heart rate sensor was also something garmin didn’t think through very well.
