Rapid battery draining issues since 18.27 update [FR965]

I have f965, I updated it to the new version 18.27. I turned off Pulse Ox and turned off allway display. I fully charged the battery last night and this morning it was at 58%. Does anyone have the same error?

  • The "theory" doesn't make sense AND nicely puts the blame on the customer.  "It's something we're doing wrong."

Frankly, I don't mind charging the watch every few days, but it's the feeling that something is wrong with the device (and that we're not getting what we paid for) that is so irksome.

  • Oh forgot to mention, the other thing the CS rep said that was interesting.  I replied to the request to delete all CIQ apps with "so I should get rid of Amazon Music and Spotify" and she said "Spotify is fine, if that was causing an issue we'd be hearing all about it."

So all CIQ apps are not created equal apparently.

  • No issues here, actually the other way around, with current pace the watch will last for 40 days :-)

That is ofc not true so I guess some battery gauge re-calibration is in progress, and I will just let it run empty and recharge before makingany assumptions...

  • That's true on one hand, as badly written apps can have bad effect on battery, but funnily the link she always sends with the explanation how to increase battery life includes not to listen to music

  • Well listening to music is a known battery drainer - I've always gotten the "spec" of 10%/hour burn while in a GPS activity and listening to music.

It's NON-activity where I think my battery burn is too high, and definitely higher than it used to be

  • Of course. IMHO It's because of the green LED that is blinking now 24/7.

Regarding the music apps: this just shows how the CS reps talk nonsense. Probably they have no idea about these things, just copy&paste some almost random text to get rid of the users (as they don't intend to fix these issues anyway). She told me that having many CIQ items may burn the battery because they might be updated. Now they told you that music apps are OK, which is very interesting as they do use lot of battry when used, AND they do update (redownload) all the music every two weeks...

  • Do you guys by any chance have a HRM Pro Plus paired with the watch?

This was some FW versions ago, but after pairing and using a HRM Pro Plus once I noticed higher battery consumption in daily life, until I disabled the HRM Pro Plus (since my HRM Run still is alive I continue to use that)

And I haven't yet enabled the Pro Plus again...

Not me but I do have multiple external sensors:

    External HRM (several)

    Tempe

    Stryd footpod

I got curious about Tempe possibly causing an issue (there is a bug/feature where the 965 will not record temperature on its own if there is a Tempe in the known sensor list - even if it is not connected) - but disabling the Tempe had no impact on the high battery rate.

  • I just got the 19.18 update pushed to my 955. Also noticed there was a GPS and WIFI update.  Maybe one of these will magically resolve things.  Will see how it behaves overnight.
