FR965 keeps loosing connection with garmin connect

My FR965 keeps loosing connection with garmin connect on iOS.

My iPhone says my watch is connected with bluetooth. The garmin connect app is open in the background with all the required permissions.

But the app says my watch isn't connected and my watch complains it cannot get weather info.

Force closing the app and starting it restored the connecting. For a short time.

Garmin must be aware of bluetooth connection problems (I reported it over and over again.) But is garmin actually doing something about it.

(NO! I don't need the usual "remove the connection from your phone and reconnect" comments. That doesn't help with buggy garmin software)

  • Have you TRIED unpairing and re-pairing the watch or are you just saying you'll try some troubleshooting, but that unpairing/re-pairing is a bridge too far?

  • Also, why are you posting this in the device forum when this is clearly an app issue?  (App controls BT connection and transfer of weather data.)

  • It's clearly a garmin problem. If they have any interest in delivering quality software they would notice the bug and make sure it is reported at the right development team.

I'm not interested in a workaround. I'm interested in a solution. If it is all right for you to have a 650 euro device you have to disconnect and reconnect on a regular basis to keep it working, that's your choice.

  • If you're interested in a solution, I'd encourage you to call your local support team by telephone.  I've always had much better results by taking action into my own hands instead of just venting in the forums and listing the things I won't do to get my complaint resolved.

  •  why do you assume I only post it here?

It’s always great fun talking to dutch garmin support. Have you ever tried?

  • Hello Elbo, here I am with my situation the same as yours but with Flusheddroid 12 and Samsung Galaxy A 41. Local support (Spain) recommends Flushede usual unpairing, pairing and waiting for it to disconnect again iFlusheda few moments...Flushed No I ask nothing more than to solve what some of us suffer (it seems like a minority) due to a defective terminal or defective App

  • I had endless problems connecting my new Forerunner 165 to my Android phone.  When I finally managed to get it connected, it would not synchronise.  Eventually I discovered that the problem was that software on the watch was out of date and, as it would not synchronise with my phone, I updated the software by connecting the watch directly to my laptop and using Garmin Express on my laptop to download and install the software.  Once installed, I had to restart my phone before it connected and synchronised with my watch.  I haven't had any problems since.

Just a pity that it Garmin did not make this much clearer as a potential reason why the watch would not connect or synchronise.  I went through loads of different websites and advice before I finally discovered the advice about using Garmin Express.
