Connectivity Issues with Garmin Forerunner 965

Hello Garmin community,

I've been using the Garmin Forerunner 965 for some time now, and while I appreciate its many features, I've encountered significant connectivity issues with various gadgets. Specifically, I'm experiencing difficulties pairing with Bluetooth or ANT+ heart rate sensors, encountering intermittent audio when using headphones, and facing challenges connecting with my Di2 bicycle gear sensor.

These issues have been persistent despite multiple attempts to troubleshoot on my end. I've ensured that all devices are fully updated, and I've followed recommended pairing procedures diligently.

I kindly request the Garmin support team to investigate these issues thoroughly and work towards implementing solutions in upcoming firmware updates. Improved compatibility and reliability regarding Bluetooth and ANT+ connections, as well as smoother integration with accessories such as headphones and bike sensors, would greatly enhance the user experience for myself and fellow Garmin users facing similar challenges.

If anyone in the community has encountered similar issues or has found effective workarounds, I would greatly appreciate your insights and suggestions. Together, we can contribute to a better understanding of these problems and help facilitate their resolution.

Thanks!

  • Hi Windsur,
I have also experienced similar issues. The ANT+ connection with my heart rate sensor is often interrupted during runs.

In addition, I can no longer pair my watch with my phone or my headset and also the wifi connection fails. This major issue happened after upgrading to 18.23.

Like you described, I have also followed the recommended pairing procedures diligently. I have also followed all available mitigation actions, such as resetting the watch, deleting and re-adding it to Garmin etc., reinstalling Garmin connect on the phone etc. I even tried to participate in the Beta program but that also did not help.

The only way of being able to sync my watch via the cable and Garmin Express on my computer, which does not make a lot of sense for a smartwatch.

So far I have not found a solution. Therefore I cannot give you any suggestions, but I hope by adding my issues here to your threat this increases the attention on these issues.

  • Hello colleagues. In my case I have also been suffering from continuous disconnections between the watch and mobile, I have not yet tried POLAR H10, I have carried out ALL THE PAIRING ATTEMPT PRESSES several times. The product's Technical Support has to give me a solution for a problem that SOME UNITS are suffering since not all users suffer from it. I have chosen every time I want SYHRONIZATION of some activity I RESTART the mobile (App Connect 4.76 and Sfw 18.23) both out of BETA and at the same time I turn the watch off/on and both connect and SYNC. My Edge 530 connects t first time with App and synchronizes instantly. I still think it is a terminal problem, on mobile ALL PERMISSIONS to the App Connect UnamusedUnamusedUnamused

  • Hello,

Same issue here: pairing to Android phone does not work. Brand new FR965, update 18.25, Connect App 4.76. I tried all the steps I used to make to fix the issue in the past with other Garmin gear (From Forerunner 100 to Forerunner 935 and Edge 830). Nothing fixed the issue. Contacted Garmin support NL and found a good old USB cable to use with laptop and Garmin Express 7.20.3.0. Let's see if a new FR update fixes the connectivity issue.

    Good luck.

  • I’ve got the same issue since the 18.23 update. Fr965 continuously connects and disconnects from my phone. Drains the battery on my watch as well

seems like the update broke something
