18.20 Wrong activity

I just realized, that if I want to start an activity like walking or cycling, that watch switches automatically to Running.

Even if I want to change the datafield of e.g. cycling, it also switches to the running settings.

it worked before, so I guess it might linked to the 18.20 Beta. Anyone else with this issue?

  • I don’t experience that . It seems to work as before.

have you done a soft reset after the update ?  Holding in power button until watch shuts down completely then restart it after say 20 secs.

  • Thanks for your reply. I tried it, Gut unfortunately, it didn‘t help.

It worked perfect until this morning and now it always switches. I will try to throw out all activities from favourites und bring them back in. Perhaps this will help.

Edit: I‘ve tried it, but didn‘t work, too. Furthermore: I deleted the Running activity, however, if I start any other activity it immidiately switches to Running although it is deleted.

  • So when you go to the activity button , select (say) running, then press start , it starts a different activity?

I tried a number of mine and if I press the activity the start screen shows the activity I selected and the "wait for GPS" screen , then starts correctly thereafter.

I tried the data-field setting as well and if I choose Bike , then it stays on bike (as an example).

  • I did have, briefly, the behavior that when I wanted to edit the data screens of one activity, it showed the data screens of a different activity.

I shared a film clip of this behavior with garmin support, but they wanten the clip in english. To put my iPhone in english it has to reboot, and ofter the reboot the bug didn't show anymore.

So, the bug is still there, but it is not clear what triggers it. Garmin cannot reproduce, so they call it a hickup and don't pay any attention to it.

  • Are you editing on the watch or the app? I find sometime the app is messy when doing adjustments.

Maybe you should do a full reset if you dont have to many individual settings...its a pain but a lot better than it used to be because most of the metrics come back correctly from GC these days.

  • I select any activity and it always shows Running.

i did a Reset and now this behavior is gone and it works (for now) normal.

However, do all the settings again is a bit annoying.

  • I had the same issue and found out, it happend while I have been editing this activity in the Connect app. So while I have been editing ActivityA on phone and trying to start ActivityB on watch, the watch always switched to ActivityA.
