Outdoor 'seed' ride to make Indoor bike TrueUp work?

My friend is having trouble getting her new Forerunner (primary and only watch) to TrueUp her Zwift rides.  It seems the Zwift ride data contains all the essentials, including HR, and is being received by GC and ultimately the watch, but training load and recovery time, to name two, aren't updating even after multiple synch operations over multiple hours (and even overnight).  She's had the watch over a month, so its not like she's still in the earliest of data collection phases.

I've read in some [quite] older posts that there is a suggestion that the watch has to have 'experienced' an actual outdoor ride before it can deal with indoor ride data.  Those posting this aren't particularly credible to me, the posts are fairly old, and I can't find any mention of such a procedural step in any Garmin literature. SInce she would have to borrow or rent someone else's bike just to accomplish such a pre-requisite, it strikes me as odd (but not beyond belief) that the watch needs this information. (distance from GPS to calibrate with power? - what if the borrowed bike doesn't have power or cadence hardware?)

Can anyone say with any certainty that such an outdoor 'seed' ride is still needed in 2024 versions of the watch software?  And what bike sensors are necessary?

If it is indeed still true, has anyone found a way to create a bogus ride on the watch to kickstart the needed TrueUp processing?

Thanks!
