Garmin Forerunner 965 displaying incorrect Pace during run

I've been using my Garmin Forerunner 965 watch for a few months now and the Pace displayed on the watch is incorrect. While running outside, it says I am running at an 8:45 - 9:30 pace, but in reality I am running at a 12:00 - 12:30 pace. After I finish my run and save it, Garmin Connect and Strava correctly show my overall average pace as 12:xx.

I've had this issue on various roads and trails in my area, and also in another state where I ran a few times while there.

Why is my Garmin GPS watch not displaying the correct Pace during my runs? Previous Forerunner watches did not have this problem.

I had all of the Units set correctly, but for some reason, it wasn't working correctly. I had to change it from Mi to Km and then back to Mi.

Solution:

1. Hold the button with the three bars on the middle left of watch.

2. System.

3. Format

4. Units

5. Change Distance from Miles -> Kilometers -> Miles.

6. Change Pace/Speed from Miles -> Kilometers -> Miles.

7. Now my Pace is displaying accurately.
